Sadly we are in a time that the media, left and right, will do anything for "eyeballs". Our media has forgotten about just reporting the facts. In this case CBS has been accused of editing the video to delete the gun the child may have been holding. This is wrong.
It does us all a disservice and makes public debate on what to do about this tragedy even more difficult. At least the article you are referring to was an opinion piece. Did the writer show a lack of compassion? Maybe, but again a journalist should have a certain obligation to report facts clearly and without prejudice. Also, there is a difference between showing compassion for a victim and making that victim a martyr.
A child was shot and that is a tragedy whether that child was holding a gun, whether he was a good kid or a troubled kid or whether he was black or white.
