Once upon a time I too dreamed about getting a PhD and working on a University campus because I loved the environment. Luckily I woke up and realized that “campus environment” I was envisioning was a mirage, a figment of my imagination. Universities now care more about hiring administrators that provide a fancy environment for the students (i.e. really the parents) to continue to live coddled and protected from anything stressful. Hiring real professors is no longer a priority. Campuses now resemble something closer to a nursery school then the real world with their safe spaces to keep students from anything that could could provoke feelings of discomfort. Doing this takes lots of money and so they can’t afford real professors. You knew the pitfalls of your course of action and yet you continued on just because you loved the environment of a university. Maybe you should have taken a logic and psychology class while in school.
