I am sorry if you have taught in circumstances where students are armed. That is frankly unacceptable and would make it impossible to teach. The fact that a school administration allowed this to occur is amazing and they should all be forced to resign

Yes I have been in circumstances where a large group is talking and I still feel a teacher should require civility and stop the conversation if someone is being rude or uncivil.

I read your attached article and would love the opportunity to ask the author a few questions. It’s so totally amazing one girl she met in school from Vermont had never interacted with a Black person before. In fact it’s kind of unbelievable and mind blowing. However, that fact in and of itself doesn’t mean the Vermont girl is racist. I am also not sure how the comment about BLM and other minorities is “racist”. It’s a discussion point if anything. Since these supposedly “racist” points are given without context it’s kind of hard to tell about racism in the author’s experience at school.
